My name is Sjef Janssens. I study fine arts education. Within the arts there’s no truth, there are no boundaries, there’s no structure or physicality that defines art. I see it as creating on ‘loose soil’. My vision is that we should not create by the meaning of what we think art should be, but that we create from the inside out. I’m not striving for avant-gardism within the art world. That’s a battle I can’t win. I’m striving for being avant-garde compared to myself by experimentation, questioning and sometimes not knowing.

I’m born and raised in a little village in the Netherlands. It was a place with no public transportation, no shops, it only had a church and a small primary school with in total 40 pupils. Life is different when you start small… I have a special love for highways, gas stations, shop facades, washing saloons, small bars and your dirty dishes.
